Digital Questions
When do we ‘go digital’?
This depends upon the ITV region you receive now, click here if you receive Granada , and here if you receive Border as your main ITV region.

Do I need a new TV?
No, the minimum you need is a digital set top box for EACH TV you own.

If I put a set top box on the same TV as my video does this work on both?
A single set top box will allow you to watch a digital channel or record the SAME channel, We recommend replacing your video with a new digital recorder if you enjoy recording TV.

Will I need a new TV aerial?
In most cases no, the new digital signals are coming from the same place as the analogue ones, as long as your aerial is in good condition then there should be no reason to replace your aerial.
Experience has shown that the quality of the aerial down lead (Coaxial cable) has a greater bearing on the reception of the digital signals; also on ‘y’ type splitters can significantly degrade the quality of the digital reception.

Will as set top aerial work?
In theory if you are using a good quality set top aerial now and receiving a good picture then this should continue to work. Not many places in our area are able to use a set top aerial now and this is likely to remain the case after switchover.

I’m on a relay transmitter why will I only receive 18 channels?
All the local relay transmitters will be converted to carry a limited number of channels, still significantly more than now. The remaining channels are commercial channels, and as such it’s up to the commercial broadcasters to pay for the relays to be upgraded, this is unlikely to happen.

I’m on satellite now – do I need to do anything?
If you are receiving TV now from Satellite then the TV you receive it on is ready for the switchover,  but you need to consider any other TV’s you have in the house, and any recorders you may use.
